Can you connect pop culture with embroidery?
Can a typology interwoven with tradition, femininity and stereotypes, transform itself into a piece of art?
Does typography acquire a different meaning in embroidery stitch?
Kanella Arapoglou, in her second solo exhibition, invites us to explore how tradition connects with current trends, by changing patterns and awakening memories. Through a time travel, she connects past with present, redefining values and emotions. With embroidery on canvas as a starting point, she creates original artworks using traditional techniques, on diverse materials, such as paper and metal. Experimental, pop and humorous artistic approach, lend a whole new dimension in our perception of embroidery.
